“Music is therapy even when used for pure listening pleasure.

As we relax the body and mind, breathing becomes deeper and we are pulled into the music, where we become more focused and attuned to ourselves and the world around us.”

Raffaele Baldassaro (2008)

Firework.

So it's Guyfawkes Night! - It felt appropriate to write about Katy Perry's 'Firework' :)

So we all saw the less-than-flattering performance on X Factor..
But I'm not going to sit here and talk about how I don't like Katy Perry or whatever most people do on the internet nowadays because to be honest I'm a bit of a fan. And not to mention that this song 'Firework', personally gets me motivated and makes me smile, (especially on a bad day). :)

Anyway, I happened to be looking through Youtube and found 'the story behind Firework' which has made me respect Katy even more.

Check it out :)

"I think that in life people are challenged to get to where they wanna be, to reach their goals. And hopefully they can hear this song and find out that those challenges aren't really difficult to get past."
          Katy Perry

The lyrics in particular are very simple yet inspiring. Not to mention the instrumentation - where the strings and quirky synths make it much more interesting than the typical happy 'pop song'.

Here are my favorite lyrics from the song:

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again

- - -

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth

Boom Boom Boom
Even Brighter than the
Moon Moon Moon

If you're unfamiliar with the song?
I think you should listen & watch the video now :)!

Not only is this one of my favorite songs at the moment but I think it's capable of making you feel better on a bad day :)

Thanks for reading :) xx
